What’s the product?
Two of Seven Hills' outstanding artisan chocolate bars - 45% Vietnamese Milk Chocolate with Pistachios and Cinnamon, and 64% Dark Chocolate with Roasted Salted Almonds.
Who’s behind it?
Nick Shearn, an almost entirely self-taught chocolatier based just 4.7 miles outside Bath, in the little village of Newton-St-Loe.
What’s the story?
Nick started out working in the family builders’ merchants, about as far from high-end chocolaterie as you can get, but one day happened to watch a YouTube tutorial on chocolate-making and thought it might be fun to give it a go. A kitchen-table business quickly took off, thanks to his dedication to the very highest quality and his fabulous creativity with flavours and moulds (any regular visitor to the Bath Farmers’ Market will have admired his eye-catching chocolate frog designs). Nick takes his inspiration from the chocolate culture of France and Belgium, where discerning customers expect only the very highest quality, and uses only professional couverture chocolate from Belgian, French and Swiss companies, with most of it made from South American cocoa beans, which those in the know tend to agree have the best flavour profile.
Why we love it…
We deeply admire Nick’s commitment to quality and creativity, and we love his flavour combinations!
